Porsche Wireless Charging

Porsche will soon be the first car manufacturer to offer an 11 kW charging system with a one-box base plate for battery-electric vehicles. The new fully electric Cayenne will be the first model that can be ordered with the optional Porsche Wireless Charging pre-installation and Porsche Wireless vehicle plate, which is set to be premiered at the end of 2025.

The receiver unit is located in the underbody of the vehicle between the front wheels to be protected from stone chips and weathering. As the base plate has a motion detector, once the Cayenne drives over the charging plate, it automatically lowers itself so the contactless transfer of energy can then take place over a distance of a few centimeters. As soon as the parking position above the floor plate is reached and the parking brake is activated, the charging process begins, which will be automatically interrupted if a living creature gets between the vehicle and the floor plate or if a metallic object lies on the latter and heats up.

Sales of the floor plate will begin at Porsche Centers and the online Porsche shop in 2026 (for Europe) and can be installed in a garage, carport or open-air parking space and connected to the mains. When ordered, customers will be supported by Porsche Installation Service meaning an electrician will install the inductive floor plate and put it into operation. Porsche Wireless Charging is integrated into the My Porsche app so that vehicles can be authenticated and the charging process can be tracked. Remote software updates and infrastructure support are also guaranteed in the future.
