Saturday 12 March saw 22 GKL and Westward customers with staff attend the deciding match of England’s 2016 Six Nations bid. Starting with a pint of London Pride in theRichmond Rugby Club, match day programmes signed by Welsh rugby legend Derek Quinnell over lunch accompanied by fine wines. As the port and brandy made its way around the table it became increasingly clear this was going to be a tense and exciting game, Derek Quinnell the guest speaker for the day recounted memorable moments of his time both as lock-forward and number eight for Wales, ‘If Wales win and England lose then then they were unlucky, but if England win then it will be down to the referee!’
A great day was had by all, the sun was out, the Welsh in excellent voice and the national anthem could probably be heard from Windsor castle. With a very exciting last 20 minutes it looked like Wales might have enough to claw back the game with inspired passing play, but as the clock hit 80 minutes Danny Care booted the ball off the back of the pitch and into the setting sun. A great day was had by all, and we were delighted that so many customers were able to join us, with a contingent travelling from Bristol and Manchester.
